Michael Jackson

Tower Records in Shibuya, Tokyo has this memorial up for Michael Jackson. He really was an international megastar.

I’m going to the first Tokyo Dome concert in a few hours! I’m very excited. But first, I’m having lunch with a new Japanese girlfriend who is also a Tohoshinki fan.

Happy early 4th of July! (It is already the 4th here in Japan, so I’m celebrating early)

By the way, it cost me $40 to get a French manicure in Tokyo and that is only for painting the nails, nothing else (on my real nails, not fake nails). OMG! My nails look pretty, but wow. Takai desu ne… (which means, that’s expensive, right?)

the other side of the world

I made it to Tokyo! In case anyone was wondering, the flight from Washington DC to Tokyo is 13 hours. With all the travel time (driving to the airport, waiting at airport, claiming bags, taking the train into Tokyo) it took me 22 hours to get door to door from my home to the hotel.

United has these neat little maps that you show where your flight is. I took this picture as we approached Japan. You can see that we were 12 hours and 12 minutes into the flight.

It’s almost noon on Friday here, so I am going out to get lunch and visit some friends.

July 2009

July Sparkle Scopes are up on the main page!

I am leaving for Tokyo today, how exciting! This will be my fifth trip to Japan overall and I’m just as excited for this trip as I was for the first (and the second and the third and the… you get the idea).

I will be posting pictures and updates while in Tokyo, so check back in a couple of days.

I ♥ Boybands

Hahahahahaha ~ one of my friends sent me this t-shirt as a gift. It’s so funny! And it so describes what people think of me because I love Tohoshinki so much that I fly around the world to see them perform.

Thank you!!

The Friendly Skies

Sometimes you can see the most amazing landscapes (I guess they’d be called skyscapes!) when flying. I took this picture when I flew back from San Diego earlier in the week. The sky was so pretty.

I leave for Tokyo on Wednesday, July 1st, so stay tuned for more pictures from Japan. Yes, it really is trip #5.

A Toast

I attended a friend’s wedding today on a beautiful cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Weddings are always sparkly fun and I had a really good time.

A toast for the happy couple ~

I’m flying home tomorrow (actually today by the time I get this posted) and then I’ll have 10 days before I leave for Tokyo ~ I am going to see Tohoshinki’s concert at the Tokyo Dome.

Coronado Beach

I’m having a blast in San Diego.  I hiked up Coronado Beach today with a friend for a virgin daiquiri.  It was really refreshing.

San Diego Weekend

Hello from San Diego!

I had brunch with some friends this morning, how fun!  I got a hot chocolate, isn’t it pretty?  For some reason, I always get hot chocolate when I come to San Diego even though it’s warm here.

In other news, my trip to Chicago has been canceled and will have to be rescheduled.  So my next big adventure is Tokyo!

Triple Trips

Tomorrow starts the beginning of my three back to back trips. Wish me luck.

I’m leaving for San Diego tomorrow for 5 days. Then I’m home for 4 days before I fly to Chicago for 2 days and then I have 3 days at home before I head off to Tokyo again for 8 days!

I’ll post pics when I can, so stay tuned. (^-^)

DC Weekend

So I’m having a fun weekend in DC!  This is the Capital Building.  It always looks so magnificent against the blue sky… some things are just so beautiful that you can’t take your eyes off of them.
