BeSparkly

For my mom’s birthday this week, we ventured to nearby colonial Williamsburg for food, fun and shopping.  It’s such a beautiful, quaint town… but let’s face it, I went to shop, not get my picture taken with Thomas Jefferson.

I didn’t realize that I needed a new little black dress until this one caught my eye.  Unfortunately, this dress was very cute but a little too stiff and high-waisted for me so I didn’t buy it.  I have an iron - somewhere - but prefer clothes that pop out of the dryer wrinkle free.

I’ve decided to document my little spring flower project.  I planted Chinese Forget-Me-Not seeds today and will post pictures once a week to show their growth.  Today’s picture is mighty boring of course, but soon tiny little blue flowers will come up!

It says they take 6 to 8 weeks to bloom ~

I managed to actually go into my home office today but then this happened…

…so I really didn’t get any work done.   

Apple blossams!  (Waahh~ I thought these were apple blossoms, but they are pear blossoms)

This beautiful tree is across the street from my house so I shimmied on over to capture the essence of Spring.  Unfortunately, the essence of Spring makes my head fuzzy with allergies ~ but I can still enjoy the beauty!

Sometimes, feeling sparkly is as simple as being able to lay down when you’re tired.  As soon as I hit the bed, I can’t help but feel relaxed.  Today, I took a nap ~

私のスタイル…私の「スパ―クリ」スタイル ~

I’ve never been one to swoon over designer stuff and have stuck to trusty “normal” brands to fill my wardrobe for years, but maybe that’s because I don’t have ANY style.  Sometime last year, in search of some style, I decided to give designer brands a try and I started shopping once a week to try on clothes that I would usually blow past.

Much to my surprise, I found that most of the expensive, designer label hoo-haw was awkward to wear and made me feel like I was “trying” to be cool - which in essence, I was, so let’s not talk about that!  Eventually, I gave up my quest to try on designer clothes for the sake of trying them on and started focusing on finding clothes I liked, that felt comfortable, and that flattered me, no matter what rack they hung from.

Maybe that’s what personal style is all about (though I’m still style-impaired).  (>_<)

At the New Year, my focus turned from "finding my style" to "planning my trip to Japan" and I forgot all about it until today when I took this picture for a future article I am writing. [articles on littleJULES & GAIN coming soon]

little JULESのペンダントとBlossamのシャツ

You see, when I was in Tokyo I bought this shirt at GAIN because Nagayama Takashi designed it and I think he’s super and I like Japanese things.  And then, when I got back from Japan, I ordered this pendant from little JULES to celebrate the start of BeSparkly and because the designer is someone I’ve admired for a long time.  Tossed in with the best pair of jeans I’ve ever owned from Joe Jeans, it seems I have finally found my style. 

My style is simply things that mean something to me and make me feel sparkly.

It’s my “sparkly” style.

Kimeru’s “K’s Ark” 5th Anniversary Concert

It’s not often one gets to romp half-way around the world for the fun of it, and it’s even less often that one gets to do it for the sake of seeing one particular concert. There’s not many people I’d travel that far to see, but Kimeru topped my list as the number one singer I’d hop the Pacific for.  To celebrate his 5th year anniversary in the music business, Kimeru had a special concert in Shibuya, Tokyo on February 24th, 2007. Feeling the need to join in the celebration, I set out to get a ticket…[rest of article here].

I nearly got through the whole day before I realized it was St. Patrick’s Day!  What hole do I live in?  I even bought this super cute card in Japan last month for the sole purpose of posting it today, so luckily I remembered.  Lucky!

I wasn’t going to post today, but then it turned out to be 85 degrees and I was so happy that I took a pic of me in my car with the sun roof open.  Actually, I have a moon roof, which is different than a sun roof… but really I have no idea why.  So forgive me, because while I’m all serious about global warming and an early spring/summer makes me nervous, I can’t help but love the warmth of a sunny, 85 degree day.
