I’m going to the mountain this weekend to celebrate my grandmother’s 90th birthday ~ it should be a blast!

I am finally home! Well, I got home two days ago, but I got sick somewhere over Siberia and have been laying low for the last couple of days.

When I was in Tokyo, flipping through the TV stations, I ran across Alf, dubbed in Japanese. Does everyone remember Alf? It was so funny that I couldn’t resist making a video for everyone to see.

Tower Records in Shibuya, Tokyo has this memorial up for Michael Jackson. He really was an international megastar.

Happy early 4th of July! (It is already the 4th here in Japan, so I’m celebrating early)

By the way, it cost me $40 to get a French manicure in Tokyo and that is only for painting the nails, nothing else (on my real nails, not fake nails). OMG! My nails look pretty, but wow. Takai desu ne… (which means, that’s expensive, right?)

I made it to Tokyo! In case anyone was wondering, the flight from Washington DC to Tokyo is 13 hours. With all the travel time (driving to the airport, waiting at airport, claiming bags, taking the train into Tokyo) it took me 22 hours to get door to door from my home to the hotel.

United has these neat little maps that you show where your flight is. I took this picture as we approached Japan. You can see that we were 12 hours and 12 minutes into the flight.

It’s almost noon on Friday here, so I am going out to get lunch and visit some friends.

I am leaving for Tokyo today, how exciting! This will be my fifth trip to Japan overall and I’m just as excited for this trip as I was for the first (and the second and the third and the… you get the idea).
