Happy Halloween!

This year I am spending it with my nephews.  They are at the perfect age for trick or treating and I can’t wait to see what their costumes are.

As part of the spooky fun, here is a picture of my new friend Mitzie.  Mitzie is a garden spider, Argiope aurantia, that lives on the side of my brother’s house.  You can see how big she is in the second picture in relationship to the doorknob.  Garden spiders are harmless and they tend to hang in the exact center of their web.  They can’t see very well, so it was easy to get up close and snap a picture of her without her scampering away.  Also, the females are much bigger than the males, which is how I determined that she is a female.

For more info about these types of spiders, you can read about them on Wikipedia.   And so you know, the first time I saw her I was trying to get in the door and I almost jumped out of my skin (thinking she was going to fly over and attack me) but after I looked up what kind of spider she was, I have enjoyed her presence greatly as she continues to just hang out. (^-^)

Spiders can be sparkly too!

Today is the 3rd year anniversary of the idea of BeSparkly.  So back in 2006, on this very day, the whole concept solidified in my head and now here we are in 2009, full of sparkly goodness.  And tomorrow we’ll be full of sugary candy overload, so get out your trick or treat bags!

I’m sure you’re all wondering where I’ve been, it’s like a spoooky mystery ~ but I’ve actually been at home working all month! I know, it’s hard to believe, but it’s true… I do work sometimes ~ hahaha

With Halloween right around the corner, I’m super excited for the holiday season to begin! I love Thanksgiving and Christmas and I love LOVE New Years (my birthday might have a little something to do with that one).

So here’s a BooSparkly cheers for a wonderful holiday season. (^-^)b

It’s October already which means the BooSparkly banner is up until Halloween! I love Fall and I’ve already jumped into the season full swing by putting up festive decorations and drinking nearly a gallon of apple cider ~ yum! I’m hoping to take my nephews on a haunted hayride this month too.

BeSpookily or BooSparkly? Which is better? I think I ask this question every year~ hahaha
